20220306 Baptism – Then & Now – Session 1

March 6, 2022

Pastor Matt McFarland

Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagining of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Genesis 6: 15 – 18 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagining of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

1 Peter 3:20 – 21 who one time were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah while the ark was being prepared, wherein few, (that is, eight souls) were saved by water.

21 The like figure to this, even baptism, doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

1 Corinthians 10:1 – 2 Moreover, brethren, I would not have ye ignorant of how all of our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,

and all were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea.

Jonah 2: 5 – 6 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul; the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever; yet hast Thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God.

Luke 11: 29 – 30 And when the people were gathered thick together, He began to say, “This is an evil generation. They seek a sign, and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet.

30 For as Jonah was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of Man be to this generation.

20220227 Romans – Part 1

February 27, 2022

Pastor Matt McFarland

Acts 7: 54-60 (CEB) Once the council members heard these words, they were enraged and began to grind their teeth at Stephen. 55 But Stephen, enabled by the Holy Spirit, stared into heaven and saw God’s majesty and Jesus standing at God’s right side. 56 He exclaimed, “Look! I can see heaven on display and the Human One[a] standing at God’s right side!” 57 At this, they shrieked and covered their ears. Together, they charged at him, 58 threw him out of the city, and began to stone him. The witnesses placed their coats in the care of a young man named Saul. 59 As they battered him with stones, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, accept my life!” 60 Falling to his knees, he shouted, “Lord, don’t hold this sin against them!” Then he died.

Romans 7:18 – 20 (NIV) For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

Romans 1: 11 – 12 I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— 12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

Romans 1: 14 – 15 I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. 15 That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.

Romans 1: 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[a] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”[b]

20220213 How to Win the Superbowl of Life.

February 13, 2022

Pastor Matt McFarland

  1. You have to declare a Team.    Acts 1:8 (KJ21)  But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
  2. Are you committed to supporting your team? How are you using your . . Time, Talent, Treasure? John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in Me and I in Him, the same bringeth forth much fruit, for without Me ye can do nothing.  2 Corinthians 9:7   As every man purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly or out of compulsion; for God loveth the cheerful giver.
  3. Work hard for the success of your team.  Galatians 9:6  And let us not be weary in welldoing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
  4. Be faithful to your team.  Hebrews 13:5  Let your manner of living be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have. For He hath said, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”;
  5. Be passionate when talking about your team. Ecclesiastes 9:10 10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might, for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave whither thou goest.

20220206 I’m Here, Send Me!

February 6, 2022

Pastor Matt McFarland

Isaiah 6: 1 -8 (CEB) I am being held in prison because of working for the Lord. I ask you from my heart to live and work the way the Lord expected you to live and work. Live and work without pride. Be gentle and kind. Do not be hard on others. Let love keep you from doing that. Work hard to live together as one by the help of the Holy Spirit. Then there will be peace. There is one body and one Spirit. There is one hope in which you were called. There is one Lord and one faith and one baptism. There is one God. He is the Father of us all. He is over us all. He is the One working through us all. He is the One living in us all.

Loving-favor has been given to each one of us. We can see how great it is by the gift of Christ. The Holy Writings say, “When Christ went up to heaven, He took those who were held with Him. He gave gifts to men.”

Matthew 28: 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Luke 9: 59 – 62 Then Jesus said to someone else, “Follow me.” He replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead. But you go and spread the news of God’s kingdom.” 61 Someone else said to Jesus, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say good-bye to those in my house.” 62 Jesus said to him, “No one who puts a hand on the plow and looks back is fit for God’s kingdom.”

Matthew 19: 20 – 22 The young man replied, “I’ve kept all these. What am I still missing?”

21 Jesus said, “If you want to be complete, go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven. And come follow me.”

The young man replied, “I’ve kept all these. What am I still missing?”

21 Jesus said, “If you want to be complete, go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven. And come follow me.”

22 But when the young man heard this, he went away saddened, because he had many possessions.

ut when the young man heard this, he went away saddened, because he had many possessions.

20220130 To Be Christ-Like

January 30, 2022

Pastor Matt McFarland

Hebrews 12: 1 -2 (KJ21) Therefore, seeing we also are compassed about by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 Peter 2:21 For even unto this were ye called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps,

1 John 2:6 (ESV) whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

Matthew 14: 31 – 32 (KJ21) And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught him and said unto him, “O thou of little faith, why didst thou doubt?”

32 And when they had come into the boat, the wind ceased.

John 4: 27 And upon this came His disciples and marveled that He talked with the woman; yet no man said, “What seekest Thou?” or, “Why talkest Thou with her?”

Ephesian 4:2 (KJ21) with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love,

Ephesian 4:2(CEV)   Always be humble and gentle. Patiently put up with each other and love each other.

Ephesian 4:2 (NLV) Live and work without pride. Be gentle and kind. Do not be hard on others. Let love keep you from doing that.

20220123 Ambassador for Christ

January 23, 2022

Pastor Matt McFarland

Matthew 4:23 – 25 (KJ21) 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

24 And His fame went throughout all Syria. And they brought unto Him all sick people who were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those who were possessed with devils, and those who were lunatic, and those who had the palsy; and He healed them.

25 And there followed Him great multitudes of people from Galilee and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem and from Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.

Luke 4:17 – 19 17 And there was delivered unto Him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor. He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Luke 4:31 – 32 31 And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath days.  32 And they were astonished at His doctrine, for His word was with pow

Do Want:

Galatians 5:1  Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Hebrews 2:1 (NIV) We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

Ephesians 4:32 (KJ21) and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Do Not Want:

Romans 2:1 (NIV)  You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

Ephesians 4:32 (KJ21) and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

2 Corinthians 9:8 – 11  And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound in every good work.

As it is written: “He hath dispersed abroad, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness remaineth for ever.”

10 Now may He that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness,

11 ye being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

20220102 New Year Service – Keys to a Better Year

January 2, 2022

Paster Matt McFarland

Matthew 6:31, 33 (KJV)  Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Philippians 3:13 – 14 (KJV) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 4:23 -24 (TLB) Now your attitudes and thoughts must all be constantly changing for the better. 24 Yes, you must be a new and different person, holy and good. Clothe yourself with this new nature.

Galatians 6:7 (MSG) 7 -8 Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.
