20231112 The Power Of Prayer

November 12, 2023 – Veterans Day 2023

Bishop Bill McFarland

Hebrews 4:15 – 16  For we do not have a High Priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

James 5:16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1 John 5:14 -15  And this is the confidence that we have in Him: that if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us.

15 And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.

Isaiah 45:11  “Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons, and concerning the work of My hands command ye Me.

Matthew 7: 7-8  “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Matthew 21: 19 – 22  And when He saw a fig tree by the wayside, He came to it and found nothing thereon, but leaves only. And He said unto it, “Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever.” And immediately the fig tree withered away.

20 And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How soon has the fig tree withered away!”

21 Jesus answered and said unto them, “Verily I say unto you, if ye have faith and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, ‘Be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea,’ it shall be done.

22 And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

Luke 9: 52 – 56  and He sent messengers before His face. And they went and entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready for Him.

53 But they did not receive Him, because His face was set as though He would go to Jerusalem.

54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, wilt Thou that we command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, even as Elijah did?”55 But He turned and rebuked them and said, “Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.56 For the Son of Man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” And they went to another village.

Mark 11:23 – 24 For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, ‘Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea,’ and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, what things so ever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

John 14: 13 – 14 And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14 If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Philippians 4:6 Fret not about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.

Romans 4:18 – 21 Abraham, against all hope, believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, “So shall thy seed be.”   19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, nor yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully persuaded that what He had promised, He was able also to perform.

Jonah 1:1 – 2 (KJ21)  Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.”

Jonah 1:17 17 Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Jonah 3:2 – 3 “Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.”So Jonah arose and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days’ journey.

Matthew 20:14 – 15   Take that which is thine and go thy way. I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.  15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?’

John 3:16. 16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

20230226 1st Sunday of Lent – Devil Sunday

Sunday, February 26, 2023

Pastor Matt McFarland

Matthew 4:1 (CEB) Then the Spirit led Jesus up into the wilderness so that the devil might tempt him.

James 1:12 – 15  12 Those who stand firm during testing are blessed. They are tried and true. They will receive the life God has promised to those who love him as their reward.

Our cravings versus God’s gifts

13 No one who is tested should say, “God is tempting me!” This is because God is not tempted by any form of evil, nor does he tempt anyone. 14 Everyone is tempted by their own cravings; they are lured away and enticed by them. 15 Once those cravings conceive, they give birth to sin; and when sin grows up, it gives birth to death.

Matthew 4:4 Jesus replied, “It’s written, People won’t live only by bread, but by every word spoken by God.”[a]

Matthew 4:5 – 6. After that the devil brought him into the holy city and stood him at the highest point of the temple. He said to him, “Since you are God’s Son, throw yourself down; for it is written, I will command my angels concerning you, and they will take you up in their hands so that you won’t hit your foot on a stone.[a]

Matthew 4: 7. Jesus replied, “Again it’s written, Don’t test the Lord your God.”[a]

Matthew 4:8 – 9. Then the devil brought him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. He said, “I’ll give you all these if you bow down and worship me.”

Matthew 4:10 10 Jesus responded, “Go away, Satan, because it’s written,You will worship the Lord your God and serve only him.”[a]

20230219 Defining The Times

February 19, 2023

Pastor Matt McFarland

Matthew 16:1 – 4 (KJ21) 16 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and testing, desired Him that He would show them a sign from Heaven.

He answered and said unto them, “When it is evening ye say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’

And in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and lowering.’ O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky, but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign, and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

1 John 2:16 (KJ21) 16 For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father, but is of the world.

1 Peter 5:8 – 9 (NIV) Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Matthew 16:6 – 12 (KJ21) Then Jesus said unto them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.”

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.”

But when Jesus perceived this, He said unto them, “O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, ‘because ye have brought no bread’?

Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spoke it not to you concerning bread, but that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees?”

12 Then understood they that He bade them not to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Ephesians 5:15 –  17 (CEB) 15 So be careful to live your life wisely, not foolishly. 16 Take advantage of every opportunity because these are evil times. 17 Because of this, don’t be ignorant, but understand the Lord’s will.

Matthew 4: 4 (CEB) Jesus replied, “It’s written, People won’t live only by bread, but by every word spoken by God.”[a]

20230820 Who Is Sharpening You?

Sunday, August 20, 2023

Pastor Matt McFarland

Proverbs 27:17 (CEB) As iron sharpens iron,
so one person sharpens a friend.

Proverbs 1:7 (CEB) Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10 (CEB) The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord;
the knowledge of the holy one is understanding.

Luke 2:52 (KJ21) 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

1 Corinthians 15:33 (CEB) 33 Don’t be deceived, bad company corrupts good character.

Deuteronomy 6:6 – 7 (CEB) These words that I am commanding you today must always be on your minds. Recite them to your children. Talk about them when you are sitting around your house and when you are out and about, when you are lying down and when you are getting up.

Matthew 28:20 (KJ21) 20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Amen.

Titus 2:7 – 8 (KJ21) in all things showing thyself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing uncorruptness, seriousness, sincerity, sound speech which cannot be condemned, that he that is of a contrary mind may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

Hebrews 10:24 – 25 (CEB) 24 And let us consider each other carefully for the purpose of sparking love and good deeds. 25 Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near.

20230730 Forgiveness is Being

Sunday, July 30, 2023

Pastor Matt McFarland

Luke 6:27 – 31 27 “But I say unto you that hear: Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you.

28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them that despitefully use you.

29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek, offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak, forbid not to take thy coat also.

30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods, ask them not back.

31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

Matthew 18:21 – 22. 21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?”

22 And Jesus said unto him, “I say not unto thee, until seven times, but until seventy times seven.

John 13:21 – 26  21 When Jesus had thus said, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Verily, verily I say unto you that one of you shall betray Me.”

22 Then the disciples looked at one another, not knowing of whom He spoke.

23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.

24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom He spoke.

25 He then, leaning on Jesus’ breast, said unto Him, “Lord, who is it?”

26 Jesus answered, “He it is to whom I shall give a sop when I have dipped it.” And when He had dipped the sop, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
