Pastor Matt McFarland

Baptist in the New Testament

1 Peter 3:20 (KJ21) who one time were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah while the ark was being prepared, wherein few, (that is, eight souls) were saved by water.

1 Corinthian 10:1 – 2  Moreover, brethren, I would not have ye ignorant of how all of our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, and all were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea.

After Malachi there was 400 years of silence from God.

Matthew 3:1  In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea

Matthew 3:11  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear. He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.

Matthew 3: 13 – 15 Then came Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan unto John to be baptized by him. 14 But John forbad Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by Thee, and comest Thou to me?” 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, “Suffer it to be so now, for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John suffered Him.

Romans 3:22 – 24 even the righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ, unto all and upon all those who believe. For there is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 3:20 – 21  who one time were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah while the ark was being prepared, wherein few, (that is, eight souls) were saved by water. 21 The like figure to this, even baptism, doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
