Matthew 4:1 (CEB) 4 Then the Spirit led Jesus up into the wilderness so that the devil might tempt him.

James 1:12 – 15  12 Those who stand firm during testing are blessed. They are tried and true. They will receive the life God has promised to those who love him as their reward.

Our cravings versus God’s gifts

13 No one who is tested should say, “God is tempting me!” This is because God is not tempted by any form of evil, nor does he tempt anyone. 14 Everyone is tempted by their own cravings; they are lured away and enticed by them. 15 Once those cravings conceive, they give birth to sin; and when sin grows up, it gives birth to death.

Matthew 4:4 4 Jesus replied, “It’s written, People won’t live only by bread, but by every word spoken by God.”[a]

Matthew 4:5 – 6. 5 After that the devil brought him into the holy city and stood him at the highest point of the temple. He said to him, 6 “Since you are God’s Son, throw yourself down; for it is written, I will command my angels concerning you, and they will take you up in their hands so that you won’t hit your foot on a stone.”[a]

Matthew 4: 7. 7 Jesus replied, “Again it’s written, Don’t test the Lord your God.”[a]

Matthew 4:8 – 9. 8 Then the devil brought him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 He said, “I’ll give you all these if you bow down and worship me.”

Matthew 4:10 10 Jesus responded, “Go away, Satan, because it’s written,You will worship the Lord your God and serve only him.”[a]

Matthew 16:1 – 4 (KJ21) 16 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and testing, desired Him that He would show them a sign from Heaven.

2 He answered and said unto them, “When it is evening ye say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’

3 And in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and lowering.’ O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky, but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign, and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

1 John 2:16 (KJ21) 16 For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father, but is of the world.

 1 Peter 5:8 – 9 (NIV) 8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Matthew 16:6 – 12 (KJ21) 6 Then Jesus said unto them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.”

7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.”

8 But when Jesus perceived this, He said unto them, “O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, ‘because ye have brought no bread’?

9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spoke it not to you concerning bread, but that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees?”

12 Then understood they that He bade them not to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Ephesians 5:15 –  17 (CEB) 15 So be careful to live your life wisely, not foolishly. 16 Take advantage of every opportunity because these are evil times. 17 Because of this, don’t be ignorant, but understand the Lord’s will.

Titus 2:3 – 4 3 the older women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things,

4 that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

Ephesians 5: 21 – 29  21 submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord;

23 for the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church, and He is the savior of the body.

24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

25 Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it,

26 that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word,

Acts 13:22  22 And when He had removed him, He raised up unto them David to be their king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after Mine own heart, who shall fulfill all My will.’

Psalm 14:1. 14 The fool hath said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; they have done abominable works; there is none that doeth good.

Psalm 9:1 – 2. 9 I will praise Thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth all Thy marvelous works.

2 I will be glad and rejoice in Thee; I will sing praise to Thy name, O Thou Most High.
